Week 1

Chief Gani Fawehinmi (SAN)
- His full name was Chief Abdul-Ganiyu Oyesola Fawehinmi, but most people called him Gani.
- He was a lawyer and a human rights activist, famous for fighting for the rights of ordinary Nigerians.
- He was born on April 22nd, 1938.
- He was known as Senior Advocate of the Masses, though he had an SAN title, people loved him for fighting human rights.
- He was often arrested for speaking out against injustice.
- He started a free legal aid service for those who couldn’t afford a lawyer.
- He published the Nigerian Law Weekly Reports.
- He ran for president unsuccessfully in 2003.
- He was awarded the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in 2001.
- He died on the 5th September, 2009, but he is still remembered as one of Nigeria’s greatest fighter for justice.
Week 2


Folorunsho Alakija
- Her full name is Folorunsho Alakija.
- She was born on July 15th, 1951, in Lagos, Nigeria.
- She began working hard at a young age and loved learning new things.
- She first became famous as a talented fashion designer.
- She later became a very successful businesswoman in oil and other industries.
- She is the one of the richest women in Africa.
- She gives back to her community and helps children go to school.
- She loves her family and believes in taking care of loved ones.
- Many people look up to her because of her hard work and achievements.
- People sometimes call her “Mama Alakija” because of her kindness and generosity.
Week 3


Nelson Mandela
- His full name was Nelson Rolihlala Mandela.
- He was born on July 18th, 1918 in Mvezo, South Africa.
- As a boy, he loved reading and learning new things.
- He worked hard to make sure all people in South Africa were treated equally, no matter the color of their skin.
- He spent 27 years in prison because he was standing up for equal rights.
- In 1994, he became South Africa’s first Black president.
- He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 for helping bring peace to South Africa.
- Mandela enjoyed sports, especially boxing and soccer, and he believed sports could unite people.
- He was famous for forgiving people who treated him badly and encouraged peace and friendship.
- People often called him “Madiba,” which is a special name from his tribe.
Week 4


Michael Phelps
- His full name is Michael Fred Phelps II.
- He was born on June 30, 1985, in Baltimore, Maryland, USA.
- He began swimming when he was just 7 years old.
- Michael has won 23 Olympic gold medals, more than any other athlete in history.
- People call him the “Flying Fish” because he swims so fast.
- He is really good at different swimming styles like butterfly, freestyle, and backstroke.
- He has broken many world records in swimming.
- He trained for hours every day to become the best swimmer in the world.
- He encourages kids to follow their dreams and work hard.
- He enjoys spending time with his family and often shares his achievements with them.
